The holiday season is upon us, which means it is time for comfy sweaters, holiday shopping and most importantly, getting your home ready for family and friends.

Creating a warm and welcoming environment for houseguests is one of the most important aspects of holiday planning as they are a major part of the seasonal fun. Before you get overwhelmed, take a look at the suggested tasks below to make your guests feel at home.

Create a Checklist

This is the first thing you need to do. Make a list of everything that needs to be done — from closets that need to be cleaned to appliances that need to be repaired or replaced.

Organize your Kitchen

As you are likely to spend countless hours cooking, baking and entertaining over the next couple of months, stock up on food and snacks. You'll also want to make sure your pantry is well stocked with essential items like flour, sugar, spices and nuts.

Get the Guest Room Ready

This is the place where your guests will be spending most of their time, organizing it should be your top priority. Start with the obvious; freshly laundered sheets, blankets and plenty of pillows. Make sure the nightstand next to the bed has essentials like books for light reading, an alarm clock and a bowl with light snacks like fresh fruits, nuts, and cookies. Filling the room with flowers is a nice touch but make sure you replace the faded ones with fresh blooms every day.

Load Up on Bathroom Supplies

Make sure you have multiple sets of bathroom essentials like soaps, shampoo, toothpaste, dental floss, hair dryer, toilet paper and towels.

Apart from the aforementioned things, there are a number of other factors you need to consider while getting your place ready for the holidays.
